By bringing the memory of the Home Guard back to life, The Men of Britain are determined that the important role played by these part time soldiers is professionally re-created to educate, inform and remember their sacrifice - 1200 home guards lost their life in pursuit of the defence of our country.
We will remember them.
During a recreation of the Osterley Home Guard training school in 1940, a series of lectures on street fighting, enemy harassment techniques, bridge blowing and use of explosives were scripted and delivered on behalf of the National Trust to highly appreciative audiences, the front rows of which were populated by the home guard unit.
Men of Britain have three Home Guard Auxiliary ladies who work with the section in support and welfare roles.
